In January, Bloomfield Development Corporation (BDC) held the first of three meetings for a community planning process for the Bloomfield Bridge gateway parcels and intersection.

This Saturday, February 23, is the second workshop that will focus on uses and layout of the sites at the Bloomfield Bridge gateway intersection. Open through today, give your feedback online through a survey! The survey makes sure that what came out of the January meeting is representative of a majority of the neighborhood.

Funded in partnership with ACTION-Housing, the process began with the January 19th workshop sessions. Community members in attendance discussed the shared values of the neighborhood and how those could shape future development. Themes included preserving the unique culture of Bloomfield and making the neighborhood more accessible for all.

After the workshop, Studio for Spatial Practice released a follow up survey to help prioritize the themes and values from the first session and to gather feedback from those who couldn’t attend.

The January workshop focused heavily on establishing shared themes and values. Those will be used to guide the work of the second session of workshops on February 27th. The February workshop will focus more on layout and actual buildings on the site with a focus on how different sizes and uses can best fit with the surrounding neighborhood. The outcome of the two days of workshops will be presented by Studio for Spatial Practice at an open house-style event in April.

The upcoming February 23 workshop features two identical sessions. One takes place in the morning from 10:00AM to 12:00PM and the second in the afternoon from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. Space for the workshop is limited and an RSVP is required. BDC encourages local stakeholders to attend in order to give feedback and help represent neighbors who aren’t able to attend.

Childcare, breakfast, and plenty of snacks are provided.
