In 2022, Bloomfield Development Corporation (BDC) selected LUNA (Learning Urban Nature through Art) to design and coordinate a community-engaged Asphalt Art Project for Friendship Park. We provided a Bird and Tree Walk, invited community members to submit drawings for the street murals, and completed designs for the murals at two intersections on Friendship Ave at Millvale and Mathilda.
The designs are based on the natural features of the Park and incorporated community member drawings. The designs are below and have been approved by the Pittsburgh Art Commission. For 2023, we will paint the street with community members.
