Bloomfield is known for being a dense neighborhood where walking, cycling, and public transit are all safe, easy, and affordable options. BDC is committed to preserving and improving upon the great mobility options available in the neighborhood.
Bloomfield Mobility Principles
The Bloomfield Development Corporation launched our Mobility Principles project in early 2020 right as COVID-19 changed the ability to do community engagement in the traditional formats that we’re used to. Along with our partner Studio for Spatial Practice, we were still able to hold multiple outdoor and socially distanced workshops along with online surveys in order to get public input. In the near future, the final report will create a set of principles to guide development and advocate for safe streets in the neighborhood.
MoveForwardPgh Community Engagement
Bloomfield Development Corporation advocated for improvements to the MoveForwardPGH initiative’s community engagement regarding Neighborways and other mobility projects within the city.
Port Authority Bus Stop Consolidation
In early 2020 BDC heard concerns from citizens about Port Authority’s Bus Stop consolidation process. Around 30 neighbors attended to express their concern about how the consolidation would impact their transit experience. We advocated for a better community process around the consolidation of stops with increased transparency around criteria and open engagement with those who would be directly impacted.
