In January BDC staff members attended a board meeting at the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to learn more about a neighborhood lighting project proposed by the Bloomfield Citizen’s Council.
At the meeting, the URA voted to award $50,000 for the first phase of the project. Along with $35,000 in private funds, the planning phase will focus on the area between the Bloomfield Bridge and St. Maria Goretti (the former St. Joseph’s) church and will identify locations for a network of lighting, to include multimedia installation works. Photos at the URA meeting showed multi-colored projection down lighting on light posts, and lighting on buildings.
The proposed project outlines a creative take on public lighting for our neighborhood, and BDC is interested in learning more about the project and its community process.
