Throughout the summer and into fall the Bloomfield Saturday Market has opened every Saturday morning, rain or shine since 2014. In past years, when the Bloomfield Saturday Market closed residents found had to wait months to buy local produce and catch up with their neighbors. That’s changing this year. Bloomfield Development Corporation is excited to announce the Bloomfield Winter Market!
Like the Saturday Market, the Winter Market will be at the West Penn Hospital parking lot along Liberty Ave. (5050 Liberty Ave) and will have a mix of vendors from the Bloomfield Saturday Market as well as vendors new to Bloomfield. The Winter Market runs one Saturday a month: November 19, December 10, January 14, February 11, and March 11 from 11am to 2pm. The Bloomfield Development Corporation is partnering with West Penn Hospital and Allegheny Health Network to make the Bloomfield Winter Market possible.
While keeping the welcoming and inviting atmosphere of the Saturday Market the Winter Market will be slightly more compact. Heaters will be on-site to warm you up while you shop at your favorite vendors. The Winter Market will be snow or shine so dress warmly! Local farmers, producers, and crafters will be there for all your winter needs. Customers can still use their credit/debit/EBT card at the Information Tent to get wooden tokens to purchase items from vendors. Through a partnership with Just Harvest the Winter Market will also continue the Food Bucks program; for every $5 in EBT tokens bought at the Winter Market customers will get a $2 voucher that can be used on fruits and vegetables from produce vendors.
With later hours the Winter Market plans to take advantage of as much sunlight and heat as possible. No need to get up so early in the dreary weather! Opening at 11am and closing at 2pm customers have the best time of the day to shop and pick up their purchases for the month. The Bloomfield Development Corporation invites you to visit the Bloomfield Winter Market for all of your produce, crafts, and prepared food needs during the traditionally slow winter season.
